Google is adding more control to Gemini Notebook’s Slide Decks and Video Overviews, according to a company announcement dated October 19, 2026. The update changes the process from moving directly from an initial prompt to a finished artifact to a staged workflow based on the user’s sources.
Users can ask Gemini Notebook to create slides or a video overview in the chat. The product will then suggest topics for the requested artifact. After confirming those topics, users can provide further direction on the content, visual style and format.
A new Review toggle provides an additional planning step before rendering. For slide decks, users can open “Review outline notes” in the studio panel, while video creators can select “Review producer notes.” Google says users can provide feedback at this stage, including requests such as adding an executive summary or changing the order of a scene. They can then select “Proceed” to generate the final artifact.
Google also says users who already know what they want can include those instructions in their prompt and proceed directly to the review flow. Those seeking a faster result can skip the review toggle in the studio panel and generate the artifacts as before.
The company says the co-creation capabilities are rolling out globally to all Gemini Notebook users over the upcoming week.
