Google’s Education team has announced three new features for Gemini Notebook aimed at helping users organize and review study materials. The company described the features in a blog post published October 16, 2026.
The first feature, Short Video Overviews, lets users generate a 60-second video intended to explain a difficult concept. Google says the videos can be watched on the go or shared with a classmate.
Users can also create an Interactive Learning Overview under the Reports section. According to Google, this format guides learners through their notes, lectures and readings step by step. It combines summaries with other notebook outputs, including slides, quizzes and flashcards. Google says these materials are grounded strictly in the coursework provided by the user.
The third update expands the available quiz formats. The company says users can now choose short-answer, multi-select and fill-in-the-blank questions. After completing quizzes or reviewing flashcards, users can ask their notebook for feedback about areas that may require further attention.
Google presented the tools as options for making exam preparation more structured and engaging. The features are intended to work with users’ own study materials, and Google directed users to Gemini Notebook to try them.
