Meta Introduces Muse, a Personal AI Agent Built to Take Action

Meta has launched Muse, a personal AI agent designed to work across connected services, remember user context, and carry out tasks from its own secure virtual machine.

Meta has introduced Muse, a personal AI agent designed to do more than answer questions. The company says Muse can take on tasks and projects, build action plans around longer-term goals, and work across connected apps and services on a person’s behalf.

Muse runs inside a dedicated Muse Secure VM, where connected credentials and data are stored. Meta says a separate Sentinel agent checks actions before they reach the internet and can request user permission for sensitive steps such as sending an email or making a purchase.

The agent is powered by Muse Spark and is designed to work through the Muse app or WhatsApp. Meta says users can control which services are connected and what level of access Muse receives, while retaining an audit trail of what the agent has done and plans to do.

Muse is rolling out in the United States on iOS, Android, and the web, with Meta saying broader device support will follow.

ToFindAI Take

The competition is shifting from assistants that answer to agents that act. Meta’s entry matters because it aims to put that model in front of mainstream consumers rather than limiting autonomous workflows to developers or enterprise users.

Why it matters

A consumer-scale agent tied to messaging and everyday services could accelerate adoption of AI that handles multi-step personal tasks, while making permission, privacy, and audit controls much more important.

Who this affects

Consumers, personal productivity apps, travel and commerce services, messaging platforms, AI-agent developers, and businesses building services that agents may interact with.
